Buyer Reviews
Ok, the item is fine as advertised. It is an emergency supply of food for 1 adult for 3 days (keep in mind to have adequate water). I like to bring Mountain Property packs with me when I go motorcycle camping or backpacking. They're light, uncomplicated to pack, and I enjoy them. Oftentimes they take the function of "just in case" food, and sometimes they serve as a planned meal. The chili mac with beef is a personal favored, as is the beef stroganoff. I am not particularly fond of beef stroganoff frequently, but there's a thing about a savory meal when camping. Mountain House meals commonly taste much better than lots of of the freeze-dried alternatives.
So why did I say "practically perfect?" Nicely, I'd choose it if they sold this kit with the two-serving packets. I'm ordinarily moto-camping or backpacking with an individual. It really is super-handy to have a single package for two many people. Much less waste. On the plus side, it's not 5-serving packages like some other emergency kits. Given that it is advertised for one individual, this is expected.
Second, the vegetable packs (which are two-serving packs, although I'm guessing are intended for a single person) are a waste for a home emergency kit. Get canned vegetables instead. The vegetable packs are excellent for backpacking, as they will help hold your digestive system pleased. They don't come out quite as fine as canned vegetables, but they're considerably lighter.
If you are debating amongst this and MREs, there's a couple of factors to give consideration to:
1) Personally, I think MREs do not taste as excellent as Mountain Residence meals
two) MREs do not need a stove and fuel (MRE heating packs)
three) MREs don't need further water (accurate of canned foods, as well)
I do have MREs sometimes for moto-camping, but not for backpacking, as I choose the Mountain House meals.
While the food high quality is decent - and the packages should really final for a while, it is a bit deceptive to say that a TOTAL of about 2500 calories is sufficient for a individual for three days. Unless you happen to be on a truly tight diet program. For a short term like 72 hours simply hold some canned food about (or some MRE's) and you'd do significantly much better. If you insist on camping (dehydrated) food - just decide to buy a few of the actual meals from this organization. At least you will be consuming sufficient to preserve the stomach rumbles down.
