I have read all the security reviews on Amazon from all the several safety MFG's. Skylink, GE, Bulldog Security and so on. I was impressed that the reviews on this product did not mention anything about poor high quality, poor range etc. I initial named the AAS safety people today and was impressed that over the telephone they could answer all my queries. I would like to let you know that the major programmer/ auto dialer is the identical on all their units from AAS100 to AAS600 systems. The only difference is the amount of door sensors, motion detectors, sirens etc etc. They have so various further add on's for their safety system it is incredible, such as remote wireless sirens, smoke detectors, gas detectors, water detectors and additional and much more. So I ordered a custom unit from them: 1 most important programmer/dialer, 1 remote siren and three motion detectors and two remote important pods. I setup the program on my kitchen table in about 1/2 an hour. The siren is loud, given that I bought the separate wireless siren unit it can be placed anywhere you have an AC outlet. The motion detectors work gorgeous. Not as well sensitive but operate at long distances. I put one on the motion detectors in my den and it looks into my kitchen and will detect you if you walk at the end of the kitchen 40ft away.The key programmer has built in battery backup. I have a 3000 sq ft house and I do not know exactly where to place the 3rd detector, the other 2 detectors cover my entire very first floor. I've only had it for a week but I am impressed. You have the ability to dial into this system and listen to what is happening, operates with my blackberry cellphone. You can set the exit and entrance times and various much more nice programming tricks that you do not get in other systems.This security technique with my Avaak Vue wireless cameras are great. When the alarm goes off I am able to look in and see what is going on from anywhere. Will update in a few months.
UPDATE:
The system is good. No troubles. I use VOIP Vonage for my household telephone and it works excellent on out going alerts from the AAS 100 safety program, but on incoming calls the Vonage answering service will answer and I can't dial into the AAS 100. SO....I bought the VOIP Grandstream Handystream 286 adapter from Amazon went to CallCentric and signed up for their VOIP phone . Its great for a alarm technique because it will dial out and I can now contact in to my alarm. Price? $1.95 per month. Terrific! If everyone finds a much better VOIP supply let me know!
Second update:
Discovered out my dog can set off the motion detectors. No issue, raised the pointing angle and now my pug does not set off the alarm. My wife and I set it every time we go out. Even with the dog at house. Like this technique.
Third update Feb 2011:
Technique nevertheless operating fantastic. Had to replace the 9V batteries for two of the motion detectors, so I would say they last about 6 months. I replaced the batteries on all the units anyway. Hassle-free to do, and I did not have to reprogram any of them. Amazon has some wonderful offers on 9V Alkaline batteries. I also dropped my VOIP CallCentric and I just use the Vonage VOIP. No require for two systems, I in no way had to dial into the security program, no false alarms!
Had this alarm program for the last two months. Also, bought the GSM Cellular Module, due to the fact I do not have a land-line.
